TYLER, Texas–Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-Tyler) continued to obstruct the work of the House Judiciary Committee on Monday, proudly announcing that he was not going to use his time to ask questions, rather making a disjointed, rambling statement before yielding back the remainder of his time during Monday’s impeachment hearings.
“It was typical Louie,” said Hank Gilbert (D-Tyler), the rancher and small business owner who is running against the 14-year incumbent.
“Louie Gohmert has been an embarrassment to our district for years. Today, he just widened his reach by embarrassing us in front of the more than 10 million people watching the hearings,” Gilbert said.
“As much as Louie Gohmert has said President Trump is innocent and that impeachment is a witch hunt that will lead to a civil war, I figured Congressman Gohmert would pull out evidence of the president’s innocence. Clearly, he has none,” said Gilbert.
“It is sad. It is time for him to go,” Gilbert said.
